I have worked at the Daily Emerald since 2024, and it has been the highlight of my college experience. Here are some of my favorite articles.

This was a cover story for the Daily Emerald. I interviewed a student bluegrass band, Belltower, that was shaking up the campus music scene. They had gotten popular over the summer, and I was the first one to cover them for a publication.
I wrote this story after noticing an old, beaten-down store near my house had been revamped, with painted windows and lots of clothes inside. The interview with the owner was incredible, and it ended up becoming one of my favorite articles yet.
This was my first article for the Daily Emerald. I wrote about a punk clothing swap, which I found on Eugene Weekly’s calendar. I was terrified, but quickly found a love for interviewing and reporting.
River Road is a small town outside of Eugene city limits, with no access to the public library. Community members came together and created their own library run on donations. This article highlighted their efforts, resulting in donations and word being spread about the library. Writing this helped me realize the impact that journalism can have.
Experience Lisbon
I spent 2 weeks in Lisbon, Portugal, with a group of students. We produced a digital publication. I copy edited and wrote two articles.
Reporting II - Public Affairs Journalism
In this course at the University of Oregon, I learned how to report on public money, public officials and public resources.
I wrote a profile story on Linda Ague, an activist and passionate advocate for the Eugene Public Library.
This story prepared me to write my final public issue story about the funding issues the library faces, and what local voters can do to help.
